the loss of a gadget...
yeah, I think it hasn't fully sunk in yet, that my digi cam is dead.
Having gadgets is like a quickly spreading disease. Once you get one, it's sort of adctive, and you feel like there's other things you want and need like accessories, memory cards, harware attachments...whatever.
Anyway, I have a digital camera. I've had it for like 2 years. It's become one of the things I enjoy the most, as right now, I do less painting, and more photography, especially since I have small boys, and besides, I want to photograph them, all the time.
Correction, I had it.
A few days ago, after having taking a few pictures, Fabio was resetting up the camera, on the tripod, when it just fell over, right on the open lens. So, it's dead. The lens wouldn't close. It was making a weird noise, like it was crying. and the images looked blurry.
So Fabio comes into our office and said something like "So, maybe we can get that digital SLR..." He had this weird look, and then he told me about my camera...
Anyway, so, it feels like someone died, when a nice gadget dies. It feels like a big loss, I'm not proud to say it; In this case, it's also the source of my art, and hopefully soon, my source of income, though not directly. So it's an even bigger loss.
Fabio is taking it apart, just to see what he can do about it, and not to say that I don't believe in his abilities to fix it, but I think it's gonna be pretty hard to revive it.
That leaves me saddened by the loss, and wondering about a possible replacement.
Of course, I want to "move up in the world" and get a digital SLR camera, but money is always an issue. To get another camera that is not an SLR seems like a waste, but what if that's all I can afford??
Hmmmm, what to do?
Any thoughts or rcommendations from anyone is welcomed...
I guess I just have to take film pictures for now. I can do that... :)

Hi Glaucia,
I know that you probably want the very best camera to replace to old one. Especially since it may be used for business. But, a few months ago, woot.com was selling some basic 3.1MB cameras for a very low price, so I got one just to use as a gift sometime this year by Christmas. I never opened it to look at it, but if you guys want it until you can get something better, I can give it to Fab for his birthday.
