Simple Things
We came to our in-laws' house today while they are away on vacation. While we were in the back yard, Glaucia and the kids were picking tomatoes. I climbed up a tree without the kids noticing. When I got comfortable, I called to the kids. They began running around the yard looking for me. I kept saying, "I'm right here," but they just weren't finding me. They kept walking around right under me looking through the fence and under rocks, but not looking up!! Finally, Willik looked up and saw me. It was so funny to see the confused looks on their faces.
Later at night I was trying to tuck Willik into bed. He started telling me that he doesn't want to sleep by himself. I told him that it's good to be by yourself because it gives you more time to talk to Jesus. Then I told him that when I go to Oklahoma City, I spend alot of time by myself, but I like the time talking with Jesus. Then he asked me how we can talk to Jesus. It was just perfect timing. I asked him if he remembered how earlier in the day, he was talking to me and looking for me but couldn't see me. He said yes. Then I explained that I could hear him and see him, even though he couldn't see me. "That's how Jesus is with us," I told him. "He can hear us and see us even when we can't see Him." He just got quiet and stayed in deep thought for a while before wishing me a good night.
I think its great how God provides for everything all the time, especially in the simplest of things. If I stay in touch with the Spirit, I'm ready for those perfect moments. My prayer is that I will not receive any peace unless I'm walking in the Spirit. I can only imagine how it must've been while Jesus walked the earth. Every word and action of His must've fallen into place -- probably so perfectly that His disciples were still realizing so many things about those times even years afterwards.

Hey Fab, good cue on using an earlier experience to teach Willik something. When you listen to your intuition, and follow through, it's amazing how things do fall into place. Just this morning, I left work as usual, turned left on Russell avenue. I got behind an SUV, I was going to pass him but then he switched to the left lane to make a left at the next intersection. So, then a van in front of me started making a right into Costco and was practically stopped it went so slow. By normal reaction, would have been to jump and speed up on the left lane right after the SUV turned, but I decided to just be patient and stay on the right. After the van turned, what was waiting less than a block away? A cop with a radar pointing down the street. I listened and did not get a speeding ticket. Another one in the winner's column for me.
On another morning last year, I did not listen and got a speeding ticket in the same place.

Hey Fabio--which tree did you climb?? The one in our backyard? That's pretty cool!

God definitely keeps our little ones close to his heart, and they keep Him on thier mind. I try to 'set-up' a quiet time to discuss God with my children. Everynight I sit beside them, as they lay in thier beds. I come to each of them individually; we talk, play a little, or just yawn.
There is an agenda underlying this special time...I, at the very least, share a song, a time of prayer and a hug and kiss. With that foundation and understanding there is no subject that is taboo. My children have led me into talks about marriage, divorce, salvation, prayer, bullies, or outer space during this special time, and these are the tip of the iceburg.
I don't know how much longer that I can keep this tradition going, it has been a little more than a year, and I keep reaping a special closeness with each of my children. This discipline of being a Dad is so deep and unfathomable, I feel I barely glimpse the truth of this special calling given by God (Dad).
God is showing me how He wants me to ask for things. My son Zechariah (5) is always seeing a commercial and next thing that is happening is he asks me over and over for whichever toy. Though his motives aren't the purest, this is how God tells me to ask Him for what I need..especially wisdom.
